Pinoy Compuworld has one simple task in mind. To inform the common pinoy about various facts, news and events in the computer and Information Techonlogy world. It is the brainchild of a frustrated System / Network Administrator who happen to have a hard time doing his job since he did not have any formal computer education.
The people here in Pinoy Compuworld realize that computers are still not for every pinoy. Not every pinoy are able to do some of the basic operation in a computer. By pooling together our knowledge from past experimentations, failures and successes, we hope to provide most IT challenged pinoys with basic information about how to use their computers in various ways, such as:
- Operating System usage - a lot of pinoys are familiar with a computer but still many individuals fail to use many of a particular operating system features that can help them do their job faster, easier and more efficient.
- Productivity Applications - Many of the younger generations know how to use basic features of a word processor like Microsoft Word 2003, a spreadsheet program likeOpenoffice Calc among others but still fail to recognize the fact that they doing things the long, sometimes the hard way.
- Computer Maintenance - Users may not notice it but computers do need maintenance. They tend to neglect how they use their software resulting in a very cluttered desktop. They also forget how to take care of the systems physically so that it will last longer.
- Security - A lot of users do not realize the potential danger of viruses / spyware /worms also known as malwares. Especially during these times that broadband connections are becoming even more affordable for pinoys. Some pinoys do not realize the fact that they’re systems are prone to security attacks.
- System / Networking Administration - For the budding system administrators, Pinoy Compuworld offers a variety guides that can help them learn and setup systems in a reasonable amount of time. By providing easy to understand or follow guides with
simplified language to explain it, Pinoy compuworld aims to help system administrators make less mistakes and finish more efficient projects.
Aside from guides, Pinoy Compuworld is a place to find reviews of various hardware and software products. This may include reviews of the latest Linux distribution in market, new productivity software such word processors, spreadsheets, presentation and database programs. Pinoy Compuworld contributors strive to make sure that these reviews can be understood by their own mothers and even their grandmothers.
We in Pinoy Compuworld will always strive to provide the IT facts and news in the simplest for available in order to help the common pinoy get his / her hands into the IT dirt and even use it to simply his life either in the office or at home.
