Pinoy Compuworld Test Web Server Config


To properly review or write guides about any web application, I will need a web server where I can install it. My initial solution was to use my current web hosting provider as a host for these sample applications but I had to resist the idea since a commercial web hosting server may not be the ideal server to host example web applications, not to mention the bandwithd the applications will consume if it is hosted in my hosting provider. Although my hosting provider — HostGator is quite generous in its packages, I really dont like abusing that generosity…

Using PORTAUDIT on a FreeBSD 6.2 Server


On a Freebsd system, most administrators will appreciate the advantages on using the PORTS systems of FreeBSD since it allows administrators to install software in a controlled manner and actually compile if from source. Compiling programs from source offers a lot of advantages espcially in terms of speed and optimization. Programs compiled from source generally perform faster than program installed as binaries.
