Pinoy Compuworld now completely running Wordpress

After much tweaking and fiddling with Wordpress and Wordpress Plugins, I finally completed the transition of Pinoy Compuworld from Joomla! to Wordpress. Using Wordpress seems much easier especially you find the perfect theme for your site. Now I don’t want to start a comparison debate between Joomla And Wordpress and I do love a Joomla and its many extensions. But there were a lot of pitfalls (which I will discuss in awhile) that made me decide to move to wordpress. These include:

  • Search Engine Friendly URL’s - Sure there are lot of plugins / compenents in Joomla that can achieve this but I find the task of maintining these more cubersome than in Wordpress.
  • Managing Meta Tags - Joomla’s default meta tag managements facilities namely the meta description and keywords are just too quirky for my taste. In Wordpress you only need to install the All in One SEO Pack plugin and you’re all set http://wp.uberdose.com/2007/03/24/all-in-one-seo-pack/.
  • Editor is simpler - the editing interface of wordpress is simpler than Joomla. nuff said

Now, for anyone who has seen the Joomla version of Pinoy Compuworld, here are some of the things that changed.

  • No more RSS / NewsFeeds Section - Since I am not yet sure if Wordpress has a plugin that can display RSS Feeds on Pages, I am temporarily shelfing this feature of Pinoy Compuworld.
  • Comment Feature - Since Wordpress has a comment feature built-in, Pinoy compuworld now has commenting so feel free to provide Feedback!
  • Trackback URL - The same as above, since wordpress has at trackback feature, Pinoy Compuworld now has a trackback feature.
  • Subscription VIA Email - You can now subscribe either by RSS or by Email. cool huh?

So anyways feedback is always welcome so feel free to provide them! Thanks!
